Frozen Fruit Smoothie Pops

by Meri on August 1, 2012

Do you have a favorite smoothie recipe? I say make it into a frozen treat.  I find it’s a simple way to provide a great healthy snack for my kids and provides a fun frozen popsicle. Bottom line…they’re really excited to eat them! You can do this with any smoothie recipe you have, which means you can be creative and make all sorts of different flavors throughout the summer. Maybe peanut butter and banana one day and berry frozen pops the next. Just make sure they eat them outside as with any frozen treat they can get messy…at least I hope it’s not just my kids that are messy.

Here’s a simple fruit smoothie recipe turned into a frozen snack…

2 bananas

1 cup plain low fat yogurt (I like using Greek yogurt)

1 cup frozen or fresh mixed berries (I used blueberries and strawberries)

1 cup ice

1.   Blend all ingredients in a blender until smoothe. Pour the smoothie into a popsicle tray or 4 ounce paper cups. Place a popsicle stick in the center of each pop and freeze overnight.

2.   Pop out of popsicle trays or peel off paper and serve!
